Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the most important non-invasive methods in medical diagnosis, the quality of which depends on the amount of contrast between tissues. In recent years, magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles have received widespread attention as effective contrast agents, especially in T2 imaging. However, the type of surface coating of these nanoparticles plays a decisive role in their magnetic properties, colloidal stability, and efficiency in magnetic resonance imaging. In this study, with the aim of comparative and statistical analysis of the effect of different surface coatings, quantitative data from reputable articles published between 2010 and 2025 were examined. The extracted numerical data included coating type, core size, hydrodynamic size, surface charge, and relaxation degree of T1 and T2. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, analysis of variance test, and sensitivity analysis. The results showed that polymer coatings such as dextran and polyethylene glycol significantly increased the degree of T2 relaxation and the stability of nanoparticles.
