Nanoparticles are defined as particles that are in the nanoscale range (1 to 100 nanometers). Due to their very small size, these particles possess unique physical, chemical, and biological properties that differ from those of larger dimensions. Measuring the physical parameters of nanoparticles, including calculating their diameter, volume, mass, molar concentration, and specific surface area, is fundamental. This research compiles and discusses the methods and instruments required for these calculations, based on available resources. The results of the review showed that SLS, DLS, XRD, and AFM methods are used to determine the diameter of nanoparticles. By analyzing images from a Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) in the ImageJ/Fiji software and using the presented relationships for nanoparticle volume, their volume can be calculated. Gas adsorption, molecule adsorption from solution, and methylene blue adsorption methods are used to determine the specific surface area. The results of this research can contribute to a better understanding of the properties of these particles and their applications.
